Anita Charity Collection

OMC have had a collection at the AGM for the family of Anita, to donate to the charity of there choice.

Since Anita and her family do not have a favourite charity they have decided to donate the £100 with an additional £50 donation to the NABD (National Association for Bikers with a Disability), as she got so much enjoyment out of her motorcycle.

A Guide to Group Riding

An OMC member has created a guide for Group Riding which explains in detail how our group ride-outs take place in a fun and safe manner.

It explains the "drop-off" system, route planning, rules of the road and how to tackle dual-carriageways and motorways, in order to ensure that all riders, no matter what their skill level, have a safe and comfortable ride and that no one gets left behind.

The guide can be accessed under the "Members Pages" section.

Highways Agency ask Club for views

We have been contacted by a representative of the Highways Agency concerning OMC representing bikers views at future forums which form part of Beds CC strategic road plan. We are currently sorting this out and will be involved.

However, we have been asked to encourage our members to make use of the local Highway helpline for reporting anything from diesel spills to foreign objects in the carriageways (number available from Roger). Can we ask that members store this number in their mobiles in case you need to use it in the future.

Apparently, Bedfordshire has a poor record with bike related issues which the Highways Agency are currently trying to redress, therefore we are certainly looking to have an input.

Please, if the need arises, use the highway helpline, as making use of it will help highlight biking issues.

Further to the above both Colin Measures & Phil Randall having been invited to future forums, so if any members have any concerns about roads in the area, i.e. surfaces, immovable obstructions, blind spots at junctions. or anything to do with road safety where you think it could be improved then let the above know in order that we can attend the forums and give our views.(strictly Bedfordshire)

Pie Crust Racing

One of our new members is a hillclimber and you can catch up on his racing achievements on his website at:

http://www.freewebs.com/piecrustracing/index.htm.

Essentially, "hill climbing is racing individually against the clock, mainly on a section of road race track ie, Olivers Mount. With tyre warmers BANNED this makes for exciting racing and crashes are frequent.

All motorcyclists know how dangerous and slippery cold tyres can be for the first few miles of there journey. Road racers have tyre warmers on there bikes on the grid then do a warm up lap. Sometimes 2 warm up laps if its a very short circuit like Brands Hatch indy.

Imagine if they started on cold tyres and the race was over before they got up to temperature"...

Marshal Required

Anyone interested in being a marshal for a day should contact Roger on RogerBays58@aol.com.

As part of the entry rules Twinwoods Racing need to provide a willing person to act as a marshal for the day. The said victim will be fully trained by KRC and all the expenses will be covered.

The good points are you get to watch the racing in one of the best spots and feel part of the marshal team as well as the racing team. They can even provide a bed for the night if you want to come up the day before and eat within the corporate hospitality facilities. They will also provide Twinwoods clothing and KRC will provide all the safety equipment and overalls needed.
